Artist date

Artist date~

I am taking a bitty blog break (until Monday) to open my heart & eyes to wild-inspiration.  Don't be worried~ every artist needs this!  I love to take artist dates, it has become a necessary part of my healthy-artist-mind schedule (lol!).  I first learned about Artist Dates from Julia Cameron's early book, "The Artist's Way" and I was quickly committed.

This may be exactly what you need too!

I will go with someone or by myself and find new light, life, and love everywhere I look (Obviously, I am not hard to please!)  I try to not be too controlling over the outcome and let myself be caught up in the childlike-wonder of what transpires.  Sometimes serious, sometimes playful, it really is fun to see where the adventure leads~

Usually I will walk or run these long dirt roads, visit local quilt shops, or take myself out to visit old barns and charming farmers markets. Often it seems I am left catching my breath~

How about you?  Where do you visit for fresh inspiration?

Thank you for your delicious and meaningful comments. I have poured over your thoughts on color and "body of work" and they have brought me greater understanding and even more questions!  I love it!!!

Please know you are loved and needed,
this world is better, more colorful and alive because you are here!

Seeing life from
under His watchful wings,
jj

  3. Oh my goodness I am so thrilled I have found you, what an inspiration you are. I feel like a stalker but I want to learn to work like you...LOVE,LOVE your style.
My inspiration is usually in all types of things I see.First I need to quiet my mind somewhere peaceful like the lake or ocean, or an open field. Nature seems to spark my way of seeing new ways to try things.

  4. Hope, you'll have a blessed time.
I get a lot of inspiration from other artists - reading blogs, looking at all these nice pictures in books or exhibitions - that's it: exhibitions! Galeries, museums and shows - very inspiring.

I'm having a Travel "Inspiration Weekend" myself... going to a few quilt stores I've been wanting to visit (by myself), then to visit my Daughter in Salem, OR., then up to the Portland, OR Saturday Market (maybe) to see a few friends.... hanging loosely.... no scheduled really....

So Go and Enjoy... and Know that you are Loved.... Faith

  7. You are a lovely and loving spirit. I know in my head that it is okay to take a break to gain some perspective and recharge, but it is much harder to tell my heart that same thing. I am so thankful that you told us that you do this for yourself and that it is okay.
Have a wonderful break and thank you so much for sharing your heart and your art with us. Karen :)
